14 Day Business Visa

Planning a trip from New York, Los Angeles, Houston or another US city? If you are researching a Dubai visa for USA citizens, the right answer depends on your passport, your travel purpose and how much certainty you want before you fly. This guide explains the rules for American travellers, the online visa options, documents, fees and timing, so you can start your application online only if it suits your trip.
Dubai E Visa Online is a private travel agency. We are not the UAE government, a government department or an embassy. Final approval rests with UAE immigration, and no result is guaranteed. Our listed prices include the UAE government fee and our sponsorship service fee.
US passport holders are in an unusual position. Many nationalities must arrange a visa before travel, but the UAE issues a visa on entry to US citizens with regular passports. So this page has two jobs. It tells you honestly when you may not need to apply in advance, and it helps you apply properly when you want a pre-approved visa or when your passport is not American.
The UAE Embassy in Washington, DC says US citizens with regular passports do not have to apply before travelling. A visa is issued on entry. The maximum stay is 90 days, non-renewable, whether the days are continuous or split across trips within 180 days from first entry.
Older articles and some travel sites still quote 30 days. Rules can change, so confirm the current position with the UAE Embassy or the GDRFA visa calculator before you book.
Why do some Americans still apply online? Common reasons include:
If you hold a regular US passport and plan a short holiday, you may not need to pay anything in advance. If you prefer a visa processed before departure, our team can help.
The embassy asks for a passport valid for at least six months beyond your expected arrival date. Our application checklist adds a clear copy of the bio page and four blank pages.
The embassy's guidance covers regular passports only. Holders of diplomatic or official passports should contact the embassy directly.
A US passport card is not a substitute for a passport book on international flights. Use the passport book for both the application and the trip.
Besides the passport, the embassy lists a round-trip ticket or a confirmed ticket to another destination. Immigration officers decide admission at the border, whatever documents you carry.
Overstays are fined AED 50 for each day beyond the permitted stay. If you enter and leave the UAE more than once, count your days across all trips, because the 90-day limit applies within a 180-day window. A pre-approved visa has its own stay period, shown on the visa itself.
Residence country and passport nationality are two different things. A person living in Texas might hold a US passport, an Indian passport, a Brazilian passport or any other. UAE entry rules follow the passport you travel on, not the state or country where you live.
For this reason, our application asks for both your citizenship and your country of residence. If you are a US citizen living outside the United States, the same passport-based rules still apply to you.
Many people from other countries live in the US on work, student or family visas. If that is you, check the entry rules for the passport you hold. Some nationalities are issued a visa on arrival, while others must apply before travel.
When you apply online, select your citizenship and your "living in" country. Also confirm that your US immigration documents allow you to return after your trip.
A US green card shows permanent residence, not US citizenship. A green card holder from another country should check the rules for their own passport.
In a few cases, UAE guidance links entry to US documents. For example, it allows Indian citizens with a valid US visit visa or US green card to receive a visa on arrival for up to 14 days. The document must be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival. Your nationality decides which category applies, so read our guide for US green card holders before you apply.
If you choose to apply in advance, these are the tourist options listed on our US application page:
| Visa option | Entry | Stay | Listed visa validity | Extension | Standard processing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 30-day single entry | Single | 30 days | 60 days | Up to 30 days | 3–4 days |
| 30-day multiple entry | Multiple | 30 days | 60 days | Up to 30 days | 3–4 days |
| 60-day single entry | Single | 60 days | 60 days | Up to 2 weeks | 3–4 days |
| 60-day multiple entry | Multiple | 60 days | 60 days | Not extendable | 3–4 days |
Visa validity is generally the window in which you must enter the UAE. Stay is how long you can remain after entering. Always check both dates on your approved visa.
Our US page also lists a 14-day business visa, 48-hour and 96-hour transit visas, a 7-day short visa and a 90-day leisure visa. For longer residence routes, see our guide to the Dubai 2 year visa.
A tourist visa is for visiting. It does not give you the right to work in the UAE.
A 30-day option suits most holidays, family visits and short stopovers. A two-week trip with a few days either side fits comfortably inside it.
Choose single entry for one continuous trip. If you may need more time, the listed 30-day inside-country extension can add up to 30 days. Apply for it before your visa ends.
A 60-day option suits longer family stays, extended holidays or trips where your plans are still flexible. Note the difference in extension terms. The 60-day single entry lists an extension of up to two weeks, while the 60-day multiple entry is listed as not extendable.
Remember that the embassy's stated on-arrival stay for US citizens is 90 days. Compare the two routes before paying for a 60-day visa. The online option mainly gives you certainty before departure, not a longer stay.
A single-entry visa ends when you leave the UAE. A multiple-entry visa lets you leave and return within its validity. That helps if you plan a side trip to a neighbouring country and want to come back to Dubai before flying home.
Do not choose multiple entry just in case. It costs more, and most visitors only need single entry. Each traveller needs their own application, so a family of four submits four.
Requirements fall into two groups. The first is what UAE immigration expects from you as a traveller, covered above. The second is what we need to prepare and submit your application. This section covers the second group.
| Item | What to prepare |
|---|---|
| Passport | A clear colour copy of the bio page, valid for at least six months, with four blank pages |
| Photograph | A clear colour photo on a white background. Black and white photos are not accepted |
| Flight details | Arrival and departure details. We suggest booking flights after approval |
| Accommodation | A hotel booking, or the Emirates ID of the friend or relative you will stay with |
Requirements can differ by nationality and may change, so follow the checklist shown on your application form. Our guide to the Dubai visa application form explains each field.
Most delays come from small document problems. These tips help American applicants:
Applying from the US is mostly a matter of preparation. Scan your documents first, and the form itself takes only a few minutes.
Searching for a Dubai visa application online USA options usually returns many sites. Make sure you know who you are paying and what the price includes.
Apply once your dates and passport are final. The visa has a validity window, so applying far too early can leave you needing to re-plan. Applying too late leaves no buffer for questions.
Leave extra time around busy travel periods and long weekends. Check your email regularly, because US time zones differ from UAE time and our team may ask for a clearer scan. Book flights after approval, and keep your application ID until you have travelled.
Prices on our US application page are shown in US dollars. They include the UAE government fee and our sponsorship service fee. We do not present our prices as official government charges, and we do not list a separate fixed government fee here.
Prices vary by visa type, nationality, stay length, entry type and processing speed. Fees are charged per traveller.
These are the "starting from" prices listed for US applicants at the time of writing:
| Visa option | Starting from, per person |
|---|---|
| 30-day single entry | $197 |
| 30-day multiple entry | $450 |
| 60-day single entry | $421 |
| 60-day multiple entry | $700 |
Confirm the final amount on the application page before paying. Extension prices depend on the extension type and are shown on the extension pages.
If you hold a regular US passport and need only a short stay, compare the cost of pre-approval with the on-arrival option described earlier. Pay for a pre-approved visa only if the certainty is worth it to you.
Standard processing on the tourist options above is listed at 3 to 4 days. Other categories list different times. The clock starts when your application is complete and correct.
Delays usually come from blurred scans, mismatched names or missing travel details. UAE immigration makes the final decision, so we cannot promise a date.
If your departure from the US is close, the express visa page shows faster options. Express handling speeds up processing but does not guarantee approval.
Check the page for current options and prices before choosing. If you hold a regular US passport and leave very soon, you may also consider the on-arrival route described earlier.
After payment, you receive an email with your application ID. Use that ID on our Dubai visa status page to follow progress and download the visa once it is approved.
When the visa arrives, check your name, passport number and dates carefully. If anything is wrong, contact support at once with your application ID. If you want to verify a visa document, read how to check if a Dubai visa is original or fake.
Avoid non-refundable bookings until the visa is approved.
The UAE Embassy is in Washington, DC, and the UAE has consulate locations in New York, Los Angeles and Houston. You do not need to live near them. Most applicants complete the process entirely online from wherever they are.
A sensible order for American travellers is:
Passing through Dubai to another country? Check the transit rules for your itinerary, including the 48-hour and 96-hour options listed on our site.
If you hold more than one passport, apply and travel on the same passport. This avoids mismatches between your visa, ticket and entry record.
A couple from New York on a 10-day holiday. They hold regular US passports. They may rely on entry on arrival. If they want approval before leaving, a 30-day single-entry visa fits.
A Houston traveller staying six weeks. A 60-day single-entry visa covers the full period, with an extension of up to two weeks listed if plans change. They should compare it with the 90-day on-arrival stay the embassy describes.
A Los Angeles traveller leaving next week. Check the express page, prepare a clear passport scan and photo now, and book flights after approval.
An Indian-passport holder living in Chicago. Their route follows their Indian passport, not their US address. They should select the correct citizenship and "living in" country on the form.
A green card holder with a Philippine passport. The green card is not a US passport, so Philippine passport rules apply unless UAE guidance says otherwise. They should check before booking.
A traveller planning a side trip. If you intend to leave the UAE and come back, compare multiple entry with a single-entry visa.
When you are ready, you can apply online, or use the express and status pages above as your plans develop.
