14 Day Business Visa

Until early 2024, an Uzbek traveller planning a Dubai trip had to budget for a visa as well as a flight. That has changed. Under a protocol that took effect on 16 February 2024, Dubai visa for Uzbekistan citizens is no longer a paperwork hurdle for short visits, because eligible Uzbek passport holders can enter the UAE for up to 30 days without one. The catch is that the rule depends on the passport in your hand. If you live in Uzbekistan on another nationality, or your plans go beyond a short visit, you can start a Dubai visa application online and check which route fits.
The two governments signed a mutual visa-exemption protocol in Abu Dhabi on 16 January 2024, and it came into force a month later. Uzbek media reported at the time that around 119,000 Uzbek citizens visited the UAE in 2023 and spent roughly $9.2 million on visa processing between them. The exemption removed that cost for short trips.
It works in both directions, so UAE citizens can also visit Uzbekistan visa-free for up to 30 days.
Many online pages were written before this change. If a site tells you Uzbeks "must obtain a prepaid visa", check its date.
The exemption is written for specific documents. UAE reporting describes it as covering biometric Uzbek passports, including the type issued for international travel abroad and the type valid only for returning to Uzbekistan.
Before booking, look at your passport:
| Your situation | What generally applies |
|---|---|
| Uzbek citizen, valid biometric passport, trip up to 30 days | Visa-free entry |
| Uzbek citizen planning to work or stay longer | Visa-free entry won't cover it. Check the right visa category |
| Foreign national living in Uzbekistan | Your own passport's UAE rules decide |
| Uzbek citizen with a second passport | Use one passport consistently |
| Uzbek citizen living abroad | The Uzbek passport rule still applies |
Residence permits issued in Uzbekistan do not waive the UAE visa requirement for foreign nationals. If your passport needs a visa, you can apply for a Dubai tourist visa from Uzbekistan online without visiting an embassy.
Tashkent is the capital and home to Uzbekistan's main international airport, so many Tashkent-based travellers connect through it. The rules are identical to the rest of the country. Uzbek passport holders have nothing to apply for in advance. Foreign nationals living in Tashkent can apply for a Dubai visa from Tashkent online, which saves queuing at a visa office.
Samarkand has its own international airport, which suits travellers in the south of the country. Applying for a Dubai visa from Samarkand works exactly like applying from the capital, because everything is handled online.
For both cities, check whether your route involves a connection. A third airport may have its own transit conditions.
This section is for non-Uzbek passport holders and for situations outside visa-free entry. A typical application runs as follows:
If time is short, the Dubai express visa option offers faster handling where it is available. Nothing speeds up the final decision, which rests with the UAE authorities.
Mixing these up is a common mistake. A visa that stays valid for weeks does not extend how long you may stay once inside.
Uzbek passport holders pay no UAE visa fee for visa-free entry. For applicants who need a visa, the price depends on nationality, visa type, duration and processing option. Current pricing is on the Uzbekistan price page and at checkout, so you see the total before paying. Standard handling takes a few working days and can run longer if documents need correcting.
Many people searching this topic live outside Uzbekistan, including readers in India and the US.
In India: Uzbek citizens living or studying there still use the Uzbek passport rule. Indian passport holders have separate UAE rules, including a conditional visa on arrival for some who hold US, UK or EU visas or residence permits.
In the United States: Uzbek citizens with a US green card or visa still enter the UAE on their Uzbek passport rule. US passport holders have their own entry rules.
The passport you travel on is what counts, not where you live.
Visa-free entry means a short stay in Dubai doesn't need a separate transit visa for Uzbek passport holders. Airside connections depend on your airline's conditions, especially on separate tickets or long layovers, so check these before booking.
If a visa application is ever refused, read the common reasons for Dubai visa rejection and what to do next. The Dubai tourist visa guidelines cover stay and conduct rules.
