Dubai Visa for Turkmen Citizens Living in Japan or the United States
Many Turkmen passport holders live, work or study abroad. If that is you, you can apply for a Dubai visa online from Japan or the United States using the same process as in Turkmenistan. You do not need to return home or visit a UAE embassy.
Dubai Visa Application from Japan
If you are applying from Tokyo or another Japanese city, you submit the same documents as everyone else: a clear passport bio-page copy, a colour photo on a white background, and your flight and accommodation details. Your Japanese residence card is not a substitute for a UAE visa, and holding it does not change the visa requirement for Turkmen passport holders.
Emirates operates nonstop flights between Tokyo and Dubai, serving both Haneda and Narita. Journey times are roughly 10 to 11 hours, and schedules vary by season. Because you will likely travel a long way, allow time for the application, and apply before booking non-refundable tickets. Keep in mind that your 60-day or 30-day visa validity window must include your arrival date.

For Turkmen passport holders in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Houston, Chicago or elsewhere in the US, the application works the same way. Emirates flies nonstop from many US cities, with journeys ranging from roughly 12 hours from New York to more than 16 hours from the West Coast and Houston. A long-haul trip raises the stakes on a visa problem, so check your passport validity, photo and spelling before submitting.
Some UAE entry routes depend on holding a US visa or green card, but these apply only to specific nationalities. Based on the sources we reviewed, Turkmenistan is not listed, so Turkmen passport holders in the US should arrange a visa in advance.

Applying for a Dubai Visa from Ashgabat and Other Turkmen Cities
Ashgabat is where most international departures for Turkmenistan begin. Flydubai and Turkmenistan Airlines both operate nonstop flights between Ashgabat (ASB) and Dubai International (DXB), a journey of roughly four and a half hours. Schedules and frequencies change by season, so confirm current timetables before booking.
If you live elsewhere, you do not need to travel to the capital to apply. Residents of Türkmenabat, Mary, Daşoguz, Türkmenbaşy and Balkanabat can apply online. Turkmenistan Airlines operates domestic flights from those cities to Ashgabat, so plan your connection with enough buffer, and make sure your visa validity window covers the whole journey.
Practical Travel Considerations Before Flying to Dubai
- Dual nationals must enter and leave on the same passport used for the visa.
- Valid onward or return tickets are commonly checked, and visitors without them can be refused boarding or entry.
