14 Day Business Visa
E-visa • Single Entry
If you live in Tanzania and are planning a trip to Dubai, the visa comes before the flight booking. As far as current UAE entry rules show, Tanzanian passport holders are not on the visa-free or visa-on-arrival lists, so entry has to be arranged before you leave. Our online service lets you apply for a Dubai visa online from Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Arusha or anywhere else in Tanzania. You upload your documents, we submit the application, and the e-visa arrives by email. This page explains how a Dubai visa for Tanzania citizens works in practice, and what changes if you live in Tanzania on a different passport.
DubaiEvisaOnline is a private online visa service. We are not the UAE government or an immigration authority, and we cannot promise approval, processing times or entry. Final decisions rest with UAE immigration authorities, and border officers decide admission at the airport.
Two facts decide most of what follows: the nationality on your passport, and where you are applying from.
In June 2026 the UAE widened its visa-on-arrival scheme to nationals of Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya and South Africa. Reports of the change say it applies only to those nationals when they hold a valid residence permit from a short list of countries. These are the US, EU states, the UK, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Tanzania is not on the nationality list, and a Tanzanian residence permit is not on the permit list. So the 2026 change does not help a Tanzanian passport holder, and it does not help a Kenyan living in Dar es Salaam on a Tanzanian permit either. Both would normally follow the pre-arranged visa route.
This is why generic "UAE visa" advice often misleads people in Tanzania. A rule that works for one passport can fail for another, even when both people live in the same city.
Tanzanian passport holders should plan on a visa that is approved before travel. The usual requirements for a UAE tourist visa, as published on Dubai's immigration (GDRFA) service page, are:
Requirements are sometimes updated and can vary by visa type and channel. Our team checks your application against the current checklist before it is submitted.
Zanzibar residents travel on the same United Republic of Tanzania passport as people from the mainland, so there is no separate process.
Many foreign nationals live in Tanzania, including expatriate staff, long-term residents and diplomatic or NGO families. Your Dubai entry rules depend on your passport, not on living in Tanzania. In practice:
If you are in the second or third group, we can help you choose a route before you pay for flights. Check your own nationality's rules rather than assuming they match a Tanzanian passport's.
| Your situation | What generally applies |
|---|---|
| Tanzanian passport, living in Tanzania | Pre-arranged visa needed; apply online before travel |
| Tanzanian passport, living elsewhere (UK, UAE, etc.) | Same passport-based rule; your residence permit elsewhere does not automatically change it |
| Kenyan passport, living in Tanzania | The 2026 visa-on-arrival scheme needs a residence permit from a listed country, and a Tanzanian permit is not on that list; confirm your route before booking |
| Other nationality, living in Tanzania | Depends on your passport; check before booking |
| Tanzanian passport, going to Dubai only to transit | Ask about transit options; do not assume you can leave the airport |
The two standard tourist durations are 30 days and 60 days. GDRFA lists single-entry versions of both, and multiple-entry versions are also issued. If you are visiting once, a single-entry visa is usually enough. If you plan to fly in and out of the UAE several times, for example for regional trips or a longer family visit, a multiple-entry visa may suit you better. It usually costs more.
A longer visa does not mean you must stay longer. It gives you flexibility, but you should still choose the duration that matches your plans.
Many applications from Tanzania are for visits to relatives who live and work in the UAE. This is a common reason to travel. It is still treated as a visit or tourist entry, so having a host in the UAE does not change the visa category. If a relative will host you, have their address and contact details ready, because accommodation information is often requested.
A tourist visa is meant for tourism. People travelling to attend an exhibition or short meeting sometimes use a visit visa, but a tourist visa does not authorise employment, and not every business activity is allowed. If your trip involves paid work or a contract, check whether you need another permit before applying. We can point you to the right application path, but we cannot approve activities on behalf of the authorities. Our guide to Dubai visa types explains the main categories.
Tanzanians flying between East Africa and Asia, Europe or the Gulf often connect through Dubai. UAE transit entry permits, commonly for 48 or 96 hours, exist for some travellers. Eligibility depends on your itinerary and, in many cases, the airline. If you only need to change planes without leaving the airport, ask whether you need a visa at all. If you want to leave the airport during a layover, you will need an entry permit.
Prepare these before you start:
The whole process works from a phone or laptop, so you do not need to visit an office in Dar es Salaam, Arusha or Zanzibar to submit it.
Your visa application is based on your passport and documents, and it does not depend on which Tanzanian city you leave from. Where you travel from still affects planning, so here is some practical context.
Dar es Salaam (Julius Nyerere International Airport) is Tanzania's biggest commercial centre, and it is where many travellers start their Dubai trips. Flight aggregators list nonstop Dar es Salaam to Dubai services, with Emirates and Air Tanzania among the carriers named, and flight times of roughly five to six hours. Schedules and routes change often, so check the airline before booking. For applicants in Dar es Salaam, the practical advice is to apply early and keep your passport and ticket details consistent. Business and family travellers should also confirm host details.
Zanzibar's Abeid Amani Karume International Airport lists flydubai and Air Tanzania among the airlines serving Dubai. Many people heading to Dubai from the islands are combining the trip with a holiday or visiting family. Island residents should allow extra time for document scans and passport collection, since passport services are not always as close as they are in Dar es Salaam. Apply a few weeks before travel if you can.
People in Arusha, Moshi and the northern safari region usually fly via Kilimanjaro International Airport or connect through Dar es Salaam, and some connect via Nairobi or Addis Ababa. If your route passes through another country, check whether you need a transit visa for that airport as well. Your Dubai visa does not cover other countries' transit rules.
We are not claiming that any of these cities is the largest source of Dubai travellers. We mention them because they are where applicants in Tanzania most often ask us about routes.
We do not publish a single fixed price here because the final amount depends on several things:
For reference, GDRFA's published fees for a single-entry tourist visa are AED 200 for 30 days and AED 300 for 60 days, plus 5% VAT. These are government figures and apply when the visa is sponsored by a tourism establishment. Applications made through a service, airline or agent usually cost more because of service charges and the sponsorship route, and multiple-entry visas cost more again. You will see the total before you pay.
A few ways to avoid surprises:
Processing times depend on the visa type, the quality of your documents and how busy the authorities are. Published industry guides often describe standard processing in terms of a few working days, but no service can guarantee a specific turnaround. Weekends, public holidays and incomplete applications all add time.
Practical advice for Tanzanian applicants:
You can learn more in our guide to Dubai tourist visa guidelines.
People often confuse three different things:
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Entry validity | The window in which you must enter the UAE after the visa is issued. If you do not enter in time, the visa lapses. |
| Permitted stay | How many days you may remain after you enter, for example 30 or 60 days. |
| Number of entries | Whether you can enter once (single) or several times (multiple) during the validity period. |
A 30-day visa does not mean you can enter on any date over the next 30 days and stay as long as you like. Read the dates on your e-visa carefully. Overstaying carries a daily fine, which reports put at AED 50 per day under the UAE's fine system from February 2026, so plan your return flight inside your permitted stay.
If you need more time while in the UAE, extensions are possible in some cases, but they come with extra fees and are not guaranteed. It is safer to choose the right duration from the start.
A tourist visa issued for Dubai is generally valid for travel across the UAE, including Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the other emirates, but always confirm this on your own visa document.
A visa is permission to travel, not a guarantee of entry. Immigration officers at the airport make the final decision.
Most applications go through without problems, but delays and refusals do happen. Common reasons are blurry passport scans, mismatched names, expiring passports, incomplete details and a previous UAE overstay or ban. Our guide to common reasons for Dubai visa rejection lists more.
If you are waiting:
If your application is refused, read the reason carefully before doing anything else. Resubmitting the same application without changes often leads to the same result. Our guide on what to do after your visa is rejected covers the next steps. We cannot overturn a decision by the authorities, but we can help you correct errors and reapply properly.
We help you prepare, submit and track your application. We do not guarantee approval or entry. When you are ready, you can apply for a Dubai visa online, or use the express option if your travel date is close.
