Planning a trip from Dushanbe, Khujand or anywhere else in Tajikistan? This page explains the Dubai visa for Tajikistan citizens and shows you how to apply for a Dubai visa online before you book your flight. Tajik passport holders currently need an approved UAE entry permit before departure, so the visa comes first, and the trip planning follows.
Do Tajik citizens need a visa for Dubai? Yes. Tajikistan is listed as visa-required for ordinary UAE entry, and Tajik passport holders are not currently eligible for a visa on arrival. Airlines check this at departure, so a traveler without an approved visa can be refused boarding in Dushanbe.
UAE entry rules are set by the UAE immigration authority and can change. We review the main points regularly, but always confirm current rules before paying for non-refundable travel. DubaiEvisaOnline is a private online visa service and is not a UAE government website.
The two are not the same, so the page treats them separately:
If you apply from outside Tajikistan, select your passport nationality first and your country of residence second.
Many Tajik passport holders live, work or study outside Tajikistan, and a good number search for a Dubai visa for Tajik citizens from their current country. If you hold a Tajik passport and live in Austria or the United States, you can usually start the application online from where you are. You do not have to go back to Tajikistan first.
The UAE assesses the application against your passport nationality. Your country of residence can matter for certain categories, so enter both accurately. Living in Austria or the US does not change the fact that Tajik passport holders generally need a visa arranged before travel. If a residence permit or another visa you hold could affect your options, this is confirmed during the application. Do not assume it in advance.
Tajik citizens in Vienna, Graz, Salzburg or elsewhere in Austria apply with the same online form. Select Tajikistan as your passport nationality and Austria as your country of residence. Be sure to:
If you also hold an Austrian or other European passport, the requirements follow the passport you travel on. Enter and leave the UAE with the same one.
Tajik citizens living in the US apply the same way, selecting the United States as their country of residence. Trips from the US often involve long, connecting itineraries, so wait for the visa approval before you book non-refundable flights. A US visa or residence document does not replace the UAE visa for a Tajik passport holder, so carry your Tajik passport and a copy of your approval throughout the trip.
Travelers from Austria or the US who plan to see family in Tajikistan sometimes add a Dubai stopover. This works best with two separate dates in mind. The visa has an entry window (normally 60 days from issue) and a separate permitted stay that starts when you land. Check both before you book. If the stopover is short and you plan to leave the airport, look at a transit visa as well as a tourist visa. You can also see the options in our guide to Dubai tourist visa guidelines.
Most Tajik travelers apply for a Dubai tourist visa for Tajikistan citizens, also called a visit visa. The options shown at application stage usually include:
| Option | Typical use for travelers from Tajikistan |
|---|---|
| 30-day single-entry tourist visa | A holiday, shopping trip or family visit |
| 60-day single-entry tourist visa | A longer stay, including extended visits to relatives |
| Multiple-entry tourist visa | Travelers who expect to leave and return during the visa period |
| 48-hour / 96-hour transit visa | A stopover in Dubai on the way to another country |
Exact durations and entry types depend on current UAE rules and are confirmed during the application. For a plain-language comparison, see our guide to Dubai visa types.
A tourist visa covers leisure, family visits and short business trips such as meetings or exhibitions. It does not let you work in Dubai. A job requires a separate UAE work permit.
Most tourist applications from Tajikistan need:
Enter your name in Latin letters exactly as it appears in the passport's machine-readable zone. If the spelling differs from your passport, the visa may not match the document you show at check-in. Additional documents may be requested in individual cases, so upload them quickly if asked.
The Dubai visa application from Tajikistan is done entirely online, so you do not have to travel to a UAE mission to start.
Families can apply together, but every traveler, including children, needs their own passport details and visa.
The final price depends on the visa type, duration, number of entries and the processing option you choose. The exact amount for your trip is shown during the application, before you pay.
Processing time also varies with the visa type, the quality of your documents and current volumes. Clear, complete uploads are the best way to avoid delays. If your departure is close, look at the Dubai express visa option, which is designed for faster handling where available. No online service can guarantee approval or a fixed timeline, because the decision rests with the UAE immigration authority.
Three terms are often mixed up:
A 30-day visa does not have to be used within 30 days. You have a longer window to enter, and your 30-day stay starts when you land. Extensions may be possible, subject to UAE rules and extra fees. Overstaying leads to daily fines, so check the dates on your visa before every trip. Our Dubai tourist visa guidelines cover the conditions in more detail.
Dushanbe is the main starting point for Dubai trips from Tajikistan. Dushanbe International Airport (DYU) is reported to have non-stop services to Dubai on flydubai and Somon Air, with a flight time of roughly three and a half hours. Schedules and frequencies change by season, so confirm them with the airline before booking.
If you live in Dushanbe, the Dubai visa from Dushanbe works the same as anywhere else in the country: apply online and receive the approval by email. There is no need to queue at a consulate.
Applicants in Khujand, Bokhtar, Kulob and other cities use the same online form. The only difference is the journey. Dushanbe is the airport most commonly reported with direct Dubai flights, so travelers from other regions usually plan a trip to Dushanbe, or look at connecting itineraries. Allow extra time in your plans, particularly if you are travelling with children or elderly relatives.
Some Tajik passport holders only pass through Dubai on the way to another destination. Whether you need a visa depends on your route and on whether you will leave the airport. A Dubai transit visa for Tajik citizens is designed for stopovers, with 48-hour and 96-hour options typically offered, and it normally requires a confirmed onward ticket. If you plan to explore the city during a long layover, a transit visa or a short tourist visa gives you the legal right to leave the airport. Check with your airline about your specific itinerary.
Tajik citizens who live in the UAE already hold a residence visa and do not need a tourist visa for themselves. However, the family members they invite from Tajikistan do. Relatives travelling on a Tajik passport apply with their own passport details, and host details may be requested. Residents who bring relatives to Dubai should check the visit rules and keep the dates in mind, because the visitor's permitted stay starts from their own entry date.
Tajik citizens living in other countries can usually apply from their current country of residence. Use the passport you will travel on, and make sure you enter and leave the UAE on the same one if you hold more than one nationality.
Once your application is submitted, you can follow it on the Dubai visa status page. Our guide on how to check Dubai visa status online explains what each stage means. If an application is refused, the cause is often a passport or photo issue that can be corrected. Read the common reasons for Dubai visa rejection and what to do after your visa is rejected before applying again.
