14 Day Business Visa

Dutch passport holders are in an unusual position with the UAE: you usually don't have to arrange anything in advance. Dutch citizens receive a free visit visa on arrival, so many travelers from Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Utrecht can fly to Dubai with a valid passport. A pre-arranged permit becomes useful for people living in the Netherlands on a different passport, for travelers outside the standard rule, and for anyone who wants approval in hand before departure. If that is you, you can apply for a Dubai visa online through DubaiEvisaOnline, a private online visa service and not a UAE government website.
Most Dutch passport holders Dubai visa questions come down to a single point: UAE entry rules follow the passport you carry, not the country you live in. We keep the two apart throughout this page.
| Your situation | What generally applies |
|---|---|
| Dutch passport, tourism or family visit | Free visit visa on arrival, up to 90 days in a 180-day period |
| Dutch passport, 90-day allowance already used | A pre-arranged visit visa may be possible; confirm eligibility first |
| Non-Dutch passport, living in the Netherlands | Rules depend on your passport, not your residence permit |
| Non-Dutch spouse of a Dutch citizen | Often needs a visa before departure, depending on nationality |
| Longer stay, work or study | A different visa category applies |
The core rule is straightforward. UAE embassy guidance for the Netherlands states that Dutch citizens receive a free visit visa on arrival. The ordinary passport is stamped at immigration at any UAE airport, with no application and no fee. The permitted stay is up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
You may still see conflicting figures online. Some agency pages say Dutch travelers get only 30 days, or that a pre-approved permit is compulsory. Those claims don't match the UAE mission's guidance or the airline guidance we reviewed, so this page follows the official position. Immigration policy can change, so confirm the latest rule with your airline before you fly.
That is also why we won't tell Dutch travelers a visa is always required. What we can do is explain when an advance application is genuinely useful and how to make one properly. On this page, "Dutch citizens" and "Dutch passport holders" refer to nationality, while "Netherlands residents" refers to where you live and apply from.
Before flying from the Netherlands, check these points:
A Dutch passport holder arriving by air receives a multiple-entry visit visa. According to Emirates and flydubai guidance, it is valid for six months from the date of issue, with a total stay of 90 days. The embassy describes the same allowance as 90 days in any 180-day period. Use the stricter reading as your planning rule: count every day across all trips inside a rolling 180 days.
Keep three concepts apart. Validity is how long the visa can be used. Permitted stay is how many days you can spend in the UAE. Entries is how many times you can enter. This visit visa is for tourism, family visits and similar short stays. It isn't an employment or residence permit, and Dutch citizens who plan to work or study in the UAE need a different category.
Living in the Netherlands is not the same as holding a Dutch passport. The country is home to international students, employees of multinational companies, partners of Dutch citizens and long-term foreign residents, and each is assessed on the passport they carry. A Dutch residence permit, a BSN or a registered address doesn't change which UAE entry rule applies. This section is for anyone applying from the Netherlands, whatever their nationality.
People who search for a Dubai visa for Dutch residents are usually in one of three positions.
First, their passport is from a country whose citizens receive a visit visa on arrival, such as several other European countries. They may not need to apply in advance, but should check the allowance for their own nationality, which can differ from the Dutch 90 days.
Second, their passport requires a visa arranged before departure. They should apply online before booking non-refundable flights and have approval ready before check-in.
Third, they travel as a mixed-passport household, for example a Dutch partner with a spouse or children of another nationality. Each person's requirement is assessed separately.
Some nationalities may also qualify for narrow on-arrival arrangements tied to residence permits issued by specific countries. These conditions change, so check your own nationality rather than assuming. Keep a copy of your Dutch residence permit to hand, as some applications may ask for it.
Expat life in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht or Eindhoven often means a household with several passports. A few habits save trouble:
The same logic covers any Dubai visa for foreign residents in Netherlands: your entitlements come from your passport, and your Dutch residence status mainly shows where you live and supports your return. If you hold dual nationality, travel and apply consistently with the passport you will use to enter and leave the UAE.
For Dutch travelers, the on-arrival visa already covers a tourist stay, so a paid pre-arranged permit is optional. It can still make sense if you have used your 90-day allowance, if you travel with non-Dutch family members who need approval, or if you want your paperwork sorted before departure.
Our application page lists tourist options including 30-day and 60-day single or multiple-entry visas, plus 48-hour and 96-hour transit permits. For a broader overview, see our guide to Dubai visa types.
The 30-day product is the usual choice when a pre-arranged visa is needed for a shorter stay. According to our application page, it allows a 30-day stay within a 60-day entry window. It is offered as single or multiple entry, with extension options listed for up to 30 further days. Prices appear in the fees section below.
A 60-day single or multiple-entry visa suits longer family visits and slower itineraries. Remember that a Dutch traveler with an unused allowance already has up to 90 days on arrival at no charge, so a paid 60-day permit mainly matters once that allowance is exhausted or when you need approval before departure. Airline guidance notes that European travelers who have fully used the 90 days may apply for a pre-arranged visit visa, so confirm eligibility before you pay.
A visit visa covers trips to see family or friends in the UAE. If you will stay with a host, expect to provide their address and, in many cases, a copy of their Emirates ID alongside your own details. Visiting is different from relocating: moving to the UAE under family sponsorship or a residence permit is a separate process. Visitors are expected to keep to the stated purpose and duration of the trip, so read our Dubai tourist visa guidelines before you travel.
Dutch citizens entering on arrival typically need only their ordinary passport, plus whatever the airline and immigration officers ask to see. If you are applying in advance, prepare the following:
| Document | What to check |
|---|---|
| Passport bio page | Clear colour scan, at least six months' validity; our application page also asks for at least four blank pages |
| Photograph | Recent colour photo on a white background, face fully visible |
| Accommodation details | Hotel booking, or the host's address and Emirates ID if staying with family or friends |
| Flight details | We recommend booking flights after approval |
| Residence permit (non-Dutch residents) | Keep a copy available; some applications may ask for it |
A Dutch-specific tip: Dutch surnames often include prefixes (tussenvoegsels) such as van, de or van der. Enter your name exactly as it appears in the machine-readable zone at the bottom of the passport page, and use the same spelling on every document. Inconsistent prefixes are an easy way to create a mismatch.
Start with three questions. Which passport will you travel on? Is your free allowance still available? Does everyone in your group have the same entry route? If an advance visa is needed, applying online is straightforward.
Your Dubai visa application from Netherlands is completed entirely online, with no embassy appointment. People typing Dubai visa application online Netherlands into a search bar generally want exactly this, and the steps are:
UAE tourist visas are submitted through a UAE-based sponsor, and DubaiEvisaOnline provides that service. Approval rests solely with UAE immigration.
Dutch citizens pay no visa fee for the standard visit visa on arrival. Fees apply only if you choose or need a pre-arranged visa. In that case our listed price covers UAE government charges plus our sponsorship service fee. The Dubai visa price for Dutch citizens therefore depends on visa type, duration, single or multiple entry, nationality and processing speed. Because Dutch passport holders often have a free option, compare before you pay: if your trip fits inside the free allowance, you may not need a paid permit.
These are starting prices shown on our application page for Netherlands applicants at the time of writing, in USD per person:
| Visa | Starting price |
|---|---|
| 30-day single entry | from $154 |
| 30-day multiple entry | from $450 |
| 60-day single entry | from $421 |
| 60-day multiple entry | from $700 |
| 48-hour transit | from $121 |
| 96-hour transit | from $137 |
Prices can change and may vary by nationality, so confirm the final amount at checkout. Extensions, express handling and other products are priced separately.
Processing times vary by visa type. Our application page currently lists estimates of roughly one to two days for some products and three to four days for 30-day and 60-day visas, with the 96-hour transit visa listed at four to five days. These are estimates, not promises. Final timing depends on UAE immigration review, document quality and public holidays in the UAE.
Leave a buffer. Dubai is two hours ahead of the Netherlands in summer and three in winter, because the UAE doesn't change its clocks. An application submitted late in the evening in Amsterdam may not be picked up until the next UAE working day. Apply before booking non-refundable flights, especially around Dutch school holidays when plans tend to be fixed. If time is short, our Dubai express visa service offers faster handling, still without guarantees of approval or timing.
Validity, stay and entries are different things, and mixing them up causes most planning errors.
| Visa on arrival (Dutch passport) | Pre-arranged 30-day visa | |
|---|---|---|
| Validity | Multiple-entry, six months from issue (airline guidance) | Entry window of 60 days from issue (our application page) |
| Permitted stay | Up to 90 days in total, within a 180-day period | 30 days from entry |
| Entries | Multiple | Single or multiple, depending on the product |
Here is how that works in practice. A Dutch traveler who spends 40 days in the UAE in November and 40 days in January has used 80 of the 90 days allowed inside that 180-day window. A third trip would be tightly limited. If you travel to the UAE several times a year, keep a simple log of entry and exit dates.
Always check the expiry date and permitted stay on your visa or stamp, and leave on time. Overstays can lead to fines and complications at future entries.
Amsterdam Schiphol is the Netherlands' largest airport and a natural starting point for Dubai trips. Route trackers list nonstop Amsterdam–Dubai flights operated by Emirates and KLM, with a flight time of roughly seven hours. Check current schedules with the airlines, as routes change. We can't say how many travelers fly from Amsterdam compared with other cities, so treat this section as practical guidance rather than traffic data.
Travelers from Amsterdam who hold a Dutch passport generally have nothing to arrange beforehand beyond passport validity. Travelers from Amsterdam with another passport should hold approval before check-in, because airline staff verify entry documents.
If you live in Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht or Eindhoven, the application is identical: the passport, not the city, determines your route. What changes is logistics. Confirm whether your departure airport offers a direct service or a connection, and check the transit rules at any connecting airport.
Keep the approved visa on your phone and a printed copy in hand luggage. Dubai is two or three hours ahead of Dutch time depending on the season, so plan arrival times, airport transfers and hotel check-in accordingly.
Status checks apply to pre-arranged applications. Dutch citizens entering on arrival have no application to track. If you applied through us, use the Dubai visa status page with your application details, or follow our guide to checking your visa online.
If an application seems slow:
Rejections can happen when details don't match the passport, scans are unclear, or the applicant is not eligible for the chosen category. Typical avoidable errors for Netherlands-based applicants include inconsistent name prefixes, a passport with less than six months' validity, and selecting the wrong nationality or residence in the form. Read about the common reasons for visa rejection and what to do after your visa is rejected before you reapply.
If you hold a Dutch passport and your trip fits within the free 90-day allowance, you may not need to apply at all. If you live in the Netherlands on another passport, have used your allowance, or want everything arranged before you leave, a pre-arranged visa is the sensible route. When you are ready, start your online application with your passport details to hand.
