14 Day Business Visa
E-visa • Single Entry
If you hold a Lesotho passport, or you live in Lesotho and plan to travel to Dubai, entry permission is the first thing to settle, before you book any flight. The Dubai visa for Lesotho citizens is not something you can collect at the airport: the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists the Kingdom of Lesotho among the nationalities that need a visa to enter. The practical route is to apply for a Dubai visa online from Maseru, Hlotse, Mafeteng or wherever you are based in Lesotho. This page explains how Dubai visa requirements work for Basotho passport holders, what foreign residents of Lesotho should check, which visit visa options are listed for Lesotho applicants, and how to plan your trip from Maseru. Dubai E Visa Online is a private online visa service, not a UAE government body, and approval always rests with UAE immigration authorities.
For Lesotho passport holders the answer is yes. As of 6 October 2026, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs entry-requirements page marks the Kingdom of Lesotho as "Visa Required". That means no visa-free entry and no visa on arrival. What changes the answer is the passport you travel on, not the town you live in.
| Your situation | What generally applies | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Lesotho passport, living in Lesotho | Visa needed before travel; no visa on arrival | Apply online and wait for approval before buying tickets |
| Lesotho passport, living in South Africa or another country | Passport nationality decides; living abroad does not make a Lesotho passport visa-free | Choose the correct country of residence on the application |
| Another nationality, living in Lesotho | Rules follow your passport, not your Lesotho residence permit | Check the UAE rules for your own nationality |
| Travelling as a family | Every traveller needs an individual approval | Valid passport and photo for each person, adults and children |
Entry rules can change, so use this table as a starting point and confirm the details on the application page before you pay.
Lesotho is on the UAE's visa-required list. There is no visa-free period for Basotho travellers and no airport-issued visa. You need an approved UAE visa linked to your passport before you board a flight to Dubai.
It helps to know what did not change for you recently. In June 2026 the UAE widened its visa-on-arrival scheme, but only to nationals of six other countries (Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya and South Africa), and only for people holding a residence permit from a short list of places such as the United States, the United Kingdom, a European Union state, Japan, Canada and Australia. Lesotho is not part of that scheme, so Basotho travellers should plan on applying in advance.
Your passport is the foundation of the application, and it is where many avoidable problems start. Our Lesotho application page asks for:
Lesotho passports are generally issued with ten years of validity, so a passport you collected several years ago may be closer to the six-month cut-off than you expect. Check the expiry date before you start the application. If your passport is close to the limit, renewing it first is usually simpler than trying to travel on a short remaining validity.
Wording matters here. When this page says "Lesotho citizens" or "Basotho passport holders", it means people travelling on a Lesotho passport. When it says "Lesotho residents", it means anyone living in Lesotho, whatever their nationality. The two groups can face different rules, which the next section explains.
Lesotho has a small but real community of foreign nationals: teachers, health workers, development and church staff, business owners and their families. If you are one of them, your Dubai visa for Lesotho residents question has a different answer from your Basotho neighbour's.
Your passport nationality drives the rules. A Lesotho residence permit does not make you eligible for a Lesotho-passport visa category, and it does not make you visa-exempt. Some nationalities are on the UAE's visa-free list, while others need a visa. Check your own nationality on the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs list before you plan.
South African nationals living in Lesotho deserve a specific warning. South Africa is on the June 2026 visa-on-arrival expansion, but eligibility depends on holding a residence permit from one of the listed places (the US, the UK, an EU state, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand or Canada). A Lesotho residence permit is not on that list.
Dual nationals should apply with the passport they will actually use to leave Lesotho and enter the UAE, and make sure the same passport is used for the airline booking.
If you are applying from Lesotho on a foreign passport, tell us your nationality at the start so the application page can show the options that fit it. Where your rules differ from those described in this page, the page for your own nationality is the better guide.
"Dubai tourist visa" and "Dubai visit visa" are used almost interchangeably, and for short trips the options are similar. The table shows what is currently listed on our application page for Lesotho applicants. Fees are in the fees section below.
| Visa option | Permitted stay | Visa validity | Entries | Estimated processing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7-day short visit | 7 days | 60 days | Single | 1 to 2 days |
| 14-day business visit | 14 days | 58 days | Single | 1 to 2 days |
| 30-day visit | 30 days | 60 days | Single or multiple | 3 to 4 days |
| 60-day visit | 60 days | 60 days | Single or multiple | 3 to 4 days |
| 48-hour transit | 48 hours | 30 days | Single | 1 to 2 days |
| 96-hour transit | 96 hours | 30 days | Single | 4 to 5 days |
Processing times are estimates, not guarantees. Our guide to Dubai visa types explains the wider categories if you want the full picture.
A trip from Lesotho tends to be a considered, once-a-year journey rather than a quick weekend flight, because you usually connect through another airport. That makes the choice between the 30-day and 60-day visit options a practical one.
The 14-day business visit option is for short business trips, such as meetings or trade-related visits. It is not a work permit. If you plan to work or be employed in the UAE, you need a different type of authorisation arranged through a UAE employer or the relevant authority.
The 48-hour and 96-hour transit options are designed for people connecting through the UAE who want to leave the airport for a short period. If you only stay airside between flights, you may not need one. Check with your airline how your ticket is routed.
Requirements vary by visa type and applicant circumstances, so the application page for your chosen visa is the final reference. In general, Lesotho applicants should prepare:
Take the passport photo in daylight, flat on a table, with all four corners visible. Avoid glare, fingers over the edges and shadows across the machine-readable lines at the bottom of the page. An unclear scan is one of the simplest reasons for a query, and it is the easiest to avoid.
Many Basotho have several given names, and it is common for forms, bank cards and tickets to use different combinations of them. Enter your names exactly as they appear on the passport, in the same order, and use the same spelling on your airline booking. Small mismatches between the passport, application and ticket can trigger corrections or problems at check-in.
Each person, including children, needs their own application, passport copy and photograph. If relatives in the UAE will host you, ask them to have their details ready, because accommodation information may be requested.
The process is online from start to finish, so you do not need to travel to Maseru to submit anything. Follow these steps:
The application is identical whether you submit it from Maseru, Hlotse, Maputsoe, Teyateyaneng, Mafeteng, Mohale's Hoek or a mountain village with only a mobile signal. What matters is a steady connection while you upload documents, and a card that works for international online payments. If you are a Mosotho living in South Africa, you apply the same way.
Lesotho is a landlocked kingdom entirely surrounded by South Africa, and its main air gateway is Moshoeshoe I International Airport, outside Maseru. Flights from Maseru to the wider world typically connect through another airport, and Johannesburg O.R. Tambo is a common link, with scheduled Airlink services between Maseru and Johannesburg. Some of these flights carry Emirates codeshare numbers, so check your ticket carefully. Schedules change, so confirm routings with your airline.
This has a few practical consequences for your visa planning.
Get the visa before you buy. Because your journey probably has more than one flight, a change in one leg can affect your whole itinerary. Wait for visa approval before you pay for non-refundable tickets.
The UAE visa is only part of the picture. It covers entry to the UAE. If you connect through another country, check that country's transit rules separately for your Lesotho passport, especially if you will leave the airport or collect luggage between flights.
Match the visa window to your dates. A visa with 60 days of validity must be used within that window. If you are applying months before a December family holiday, consider how that affects your timing.
Travelling by road to Johannesburg? Many Basotho do. Keep your approved visa and your passport safely accessible, and make sure your name and passport number match those on the booking.
Applying from Maseru is no different from applying from anywhere else. The planning around it is what makes your journey distinctive.
Fees depend on the visa type, length of stay, number of entries and processing option. The starting prices currently shown on our Lesotho application page are:
| Visa option | Starting price per person (USD) |
|---|---|
| 7-day short visit | $125 |
| 14-day business visit | $138 |
| 30-day single entry | $154 |
| 30-day multiple entry | $450 |
| 60-day single entry | $421 |
| 60-day multiple entry | $700 |
| 48-hour transit | $121 |
| 96-hour transit | $137 |
Our prices include UAE government charges plus our sponsorship service fee. They are starting prices and may change, so check the final amount at checkout before you pay.
Paying from Lesotho. Prices are in US dollars, so the cost in loti depends on the exchange rate on the day you pay. Your bank may add a foreign-transaction charge. Confirm in advance that your card allows online international payments, so a declined payment does not delay your application.
Estimated processing times for Lesotho applications run from about one to two days for the shorter visit options up to three to four days for the 30-day and 60-day options, and four to five days for the 96-hour transit option. These are estimates, not guarantees. Processing depends on application review, document quality and factors outside our control.
If you are short of time, the Dubai express visa option may be available for urgent cases. It does not guarantee approval, and it works best when your documents are already clear and correct.
After you apply, you can track your application on the visa status page. Our guide to how to check Dubai visa status online explains what each status means.
These three terms are often mixed up, and mixing them up can cost you days of your trip.
Here is an example. A 30-day single-entry visa with 60 days of validity means you must enter the UAE within 60 days of issue, and once you enter you can stay for up to 30 days. A single entry means that after you leave, the visa cannot be used to come back.
For a Mosotho planning a family visit around a school holiday, the sequence matters: apply early enough to be approved, but not so early that the validity window closes before your flight. Compare your flight dates with both the validity and the permitted stay before you pay.
A visit visa is intended for short stays. In practice, Basotho applicants most often travel for:
A tourist or visit visa does not allow you to work or take up employment in the UAE. Employment, study and residence need their own authorisation. Our guide to Dubai tourist visa guidelines covers the conditions in more detail.
Most problems we see in applications are small and preventable. These are the ones worth checking before you submit.
Applying on a passport that is about to expire. Because Lesotho passports are generally issued for ten years, it is easy to forget the expiry date until the last minute. A passport with less than six months remaining does not meet the requirement listed on our application page.
Choosing the wrong country of residence. If you live in South Africa, Botswana or elsewhere, select that country, not Lesotho. The selector exists so the page can show the right options for your situation.
Uploading a cropped or dark passport scan. A phone photo taken in poor light can hide the passport number or the lines at the bottom of the page. Retake it rather than hoping it will pass.
Booking tickets first. A fare that looks cheap from Maseru is no bargain if the visa is delayed or declined. Approval first, tickets second.
Treating a visit visa as permission to work. A Dubai tourist visa or visit visa covers short stays for tourism, family visits or short business trips. It does not cover employment.
Forgetting the validity window. A visa that lets you stay 30 days may still need to be used within 60 days of issue. Look at both numbers, not just the stay.
Ignoring a request for corrections. If you are asked for a clearer document or a correction, respond quickly. Waiting can slow the whole application and may affect your travel dates.
Most issues come from small, fixable mistakes: an unclear passport scan, mismatched names, a passport too close to expiry, or missing information. If your application is delayed, first check its status, then respond promptly to any request for corrections.
If it is rejected, do not immediately submit the same application again. Read the common reasons for Dubai visa rejection and find out what to do next in our guide on what to do after your visa is rejected. Rejection decisions rest with UAE immigration, and no private service can overturn them.
