Do Indonesian Passport Holders Need a Visa for Dubai?
In most cases, yes. Indonesia is not on the UAE's visa-free list, so most Indonesian travelers need an approved visa before boarding.
One rule changed in 2026. The UAE's Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) announced on 25 June 2026 that Indonesian ordinary passport holders can now get a visa on arrival. The condition is that they hold a valid residence permit from the United States, an EU member state, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand or Canada.
That condition matters:
- Your Indonesian passport alone does not qualify you.
- A tourist visa or a visit stamp from those countries is not the same as a residence permit. Check the ICP conditions carefully.
- Accompanying family members are covered under the same rule.
- The arrival visa comes in two forms, 14 days or 60 days. The 14-day version can be extended once inside the UAE. The 60-day version is a single, non-extendable stay.
If you live in Indonesia and do not hold one of those residence permits, the practical route is a pre-approved e-visa. It is also the safer choice if you are unsure whether your permit qualifies, because you avoid being turned away at the airport.

- Passport bio page: a sharp, full-colour scan with nothing covering the details.
- Passport validity: at least six months remaining, with several blank pages.
- Photograph: a recent colour photo on a white background. Black-and-white photos are not accepted.

- Extra documents: additional papers may be requested for some visa types.

Validity vs. Permitted Stay: What Indonesian Travelers Often Confuse
These are three separate things, and mixing them up causes trouble at the airport.
- Visa validity is the window in which you must enter the UAE. For example, our 30-day single-entry visa is listed with 60 days of validity.
- Permitted stay is how long you can remain after entering. On that same visa it is 30 days, counted from the day you arrive.
- Entries tell you whether you can enter once or several times within the validity period.

Applying for a Dubai Visa from Jakarta
Jakarta is the natural starting point for many Indonesian travelers. Emirates operates nonstop flights between Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta (CGK) and Dubai (DXB), about 14 per week according to its route page, with a flight time of roughly 7 hours 45 minutes to 8 hours.
Some scheduled departures leave after midnight and land in the early morning. The 48-hour and 96-hour options fit different layover lengths, and both need confirmed onward travel.
