14 Day Business Visa

Croatian citizens are in a slightly different position from many other nationalities applying for a Dubai visa. Since 2014, Croatian passport holders have been part of the group of EU nationals who receive a free 30-day visa stamped on arrival for short tourist visits to the UAE. That said, not every trip from Croatia falls under this arrangement, and knowing when you actually need to arrange a visa in advance is where most confusion starts.
The free visa on arrival generally covers short tourism stays of up to 30 days. It does not automatically cover every travel purpose. If you are travelling to Dubai for business meetings, planning to stay longer than the visa-on-arrival period, need a multiple-entry visa for repeated trips, or are applying under a freelancer visa category, you will need a pre-arranged Dubai visa rather than relying on arrival stamping. This is exactly where applying for a Dubai visa online in advance becomes useful, since it removes any uncertainty at the immigration counter.
Zagreb has a direct Emirates flight to Dubai, which operates daily and takes around five and a half hours. Travellers flying from Dubrovnik can also get a seasonal direct Emirates service between April and October, which is popular with Croatians visiting family or business contacts in the UAE outside the winter months. Those flying from Split typically connect through hubs like Istanbul or Frankfurt, adding a few hours to the journey. If your trip depends on a business visa or another pre-arranged visa type, it is worth confirming your visa is approved before locking in flight dates, since Zagreb-Dubai fares can shift closer to departure.
Croatia has used the euro as its official currency since January 2023, replacing the kuna. Dubai operates on the UAE dirham (AED), so Croatian travellers will need to exchange euros or carry a card that supports foreign transactions without high fees. Currency exchange counters are widely available at Dubai International Airport and across the city, and most hotels, restaurants, and malls accept major European debit and credit cards.
Croatia's Mediterranean climate is quite different from Dubai's desert conditions. Croatian travellers used to mild Adriatic summers often find Dubai's peak summer heat, from June to August, harder to adjust to. The period from November to March tends to suit Croatian visitors best, with more comfortable daytime temperatures for sightseeing and outdoor plans.
