14 Day Business Visa
E-visa • Single Entry
If you are searching for a Dubai visa for Colombia citizens, start with the most important fact: holders of ordinary Colombian passports can currently enter the UAE for tourism without a visa arranged in advance, for up to 90 days. For many Colombians, that means there is no visa to buy at all. Travelers who live in Colombia but hold a different passport are in another position, and many of them do need to apply for a Dubai visa online before they fly. This guide separates the two groups, explains what to carry at the airport, and shows what to check whether you are leaving from Bogotá, Medellín, Cali or anywhere else in Colombia.
DubaiEvisaOnline is a private online visa service. It is not a UAE government authority, and every entry or visa decision rests with UAE immigration.
| Your situation | What generally applies | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Colombian ordinary passport, travelling for tourism | No visa needed in advance; stay of up to 90 days | Passport valid at least six months, onward ticket, accommodation details |
| Colombian passport, planning to work in the UAE | Visa-free entry does not cover employment | A work authorization arranged through the employer |
| Foreign national living in Colombia | Depends on your passport nationality, not on living in Colombia | The UAE entry rule for your nationality |
| Colombian passport, trip longer than 90 days | The visa-free stay is time-limited | Your plan before you travel, not after you arrive |
For tourism and similar short visits, no. Three official sources point the same way. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists Colombia among the nationalities that are visa-free. The UAE Embassy in Bogotá states that Colombian citizens receive an entry permit without a prior visa for up to 90 days for tourism. And Colombia's own foreign ministry announced that a mutual visa exemption for ordinary passports took effect in March 2020, covering stays of up to 90 days.
Colombia's ministry describes the exemption broadly: tourism, business dealings, studies, and cultural or sporting events, all without a visa, within the 90-day limit. That is more than a holiday permit, but it is still a short-stay arrangement, not a right to live or work in the UAE.
You may still find websites that tell Colombians a visa is mandatory, or that quote a shorter stay. Some are written from generic templates and have not been updated since the exemption began. Entry rules can change, so confirm the current position with your airline or the UAE Embassy in Bogotá before booking, particularly if your trip is close to the 90-day limit.
One more point matters at the airport. Visa-free does not mean check-free. Immigration officers can still ask about your passport, accommodation, return plans and purpose of travel, so carry the documents below.
Colombian passport holders entering on the visa exemption should be ready to show:
Governments that publish UAE travel advice generally warn that emergency or temporary travel documents are not accepted for entry. If your Colombian passport is lost or expiring, replace it in good time instead of relying on a temporary document.
Colombian passports normally show two surnames. Airlines and immigration systems compare your ticket, booking and passport, so enter your name exactly as printed in the machine-readable lines at the bottom of the passport page, including both surnames where they appear. A mismatch between ticket and passport is an avoidable reason for delays at check-in. If your name has accents, use the version your passport's machine-readable zone shows.
For a wider overview of what the UAE expects from visitors, read the Dubai tourist visa guidelines.
Three terms are often mixed up, and mixing them up causes real problems:
| Term | Meaning | How it applies to Colombian passport holders |
|---|---|---|
| Permitted stay | How many days you may remain in the UAE | Up to 90 days under the visa exemption |
| Visa validity | The period during which a visa can be used to enter | Not applicable on visa-free entry, because no visa is issued |
| Number of entries | How many times a visa lets you enter | Not applicable on visa-free entry |
For a pre-arranged tourist visa, which some Colombia residents with other passports need, all three terms matter. A visa can be valid for 60 days after issue, for example, while allowing a stay of only 30 days once you enter. Always read the stay period, not just the validity date.
The Colombian announcement refers to stays of up to 90 days. Some other countries' UAE exemption agreements count 90 days inside any 180-day window, and it would be risky to assume the same counting method without checking. If you plan several trips in a short period, ask your airline or the embassy how your days will be counted before you book.
Do not assume you can extend a visa-free stay while you are inside the UAE. Plan the itinerary to finish inside 90 days. Overstaying can lead to fines and problems on future trips, and relying on a grace period is not a sound plan. If you need longer, work out the options before you travel.
Generally covered by the exemption (short stays up to 90 days):
Not covered:
A tourist-style entry is not a substitute for an employment visa. If a UAE company offers you a role, the employer normally arranges the correct work authorization before you start.
Not everyone living in Colombia carries a Colombian passport. Teachers, remote workers, retirees, students, diplomats' families and long-term foreign residents live in Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena and other cities. For them, the Colombian exemption does not apply. Your entry rule depends on your passport nationality, not on the fact that you live in Colombia. A Colombian residence visa or foreigner ID card is a Colombian document. It does not give you UAE visa-free status.
Based on the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs entry list, here is how some nationalities commonly found among foreign residents in Colombia are listed:
| Passport nationality | Listed on UAE MOFA page as | What this means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Spain, Italy, Germany, France | Visa free | Entry without a pre-arranged visa; check the allowed stay for your passport |
| Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Uruguay, Paraguay | Visa free | Entry without a pre-arranged visa; check the allowed stay for your passport |
| Venezuela, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Panama, Bolivia, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Haiti | Visa required | A visa should be arranged before flying |
Some nationalities on the "visa required" side have conditional options, such as simplified entry for holders of certain third-country visas. These conditions vary, so treat the table as a starting point and confirm the rule for your exact passport.
The best approach for any family is to list every traveler, note each passport nationality, and check the rule for each one.
If your passport is not on the visa-free list, you can choose from several short-stay options. The table below shows the main ones currently listed on our application pages. The figures show the stay allowed, how long the visa remains usable and the number of entries, which are different things.
| Visa option | Permitted stay | Validity shown | Entries |
|---|---|---|---|
| 48-hour transit visa | 48 hours | 30 days | Single |
| 96-hour transit visa | 96 hours | 30 days | Single |
| 14-day business visa | 14 days | 58 days | Single |
| 30-day tourist visa | 30 days | 60 days | Single or multiple |
| 60-day tourist visa | 60 days | 60 days | Single or multiple |
Extensions and airport-to-airport changes are also listed for some visa types. Availability, eligibility and extension limits depend on the visa and the applicant. Our Dubai visa types guide explains each option in more depth.
Many searches from Colombia ask for a "30-day Dubai visa" or "60-day Dubai visa for Colombian citizens". For a Colombian passport holder on a normal holiday, neither is required, because the exemption already allows up to 90 days. A 30-day or 60-day visa is mainly relevant to Colombia-based travelers whose passport is not exempt.
If you only change planes in Dubai and stay airside, your passport nationality and the airline's rules decide whether you need anything. If you plan to leave the airport during a long layover, check whether your nationality can enter visa-free. If it cannot, a 48-hour or 96-hour transit visa may be the relevant option.
If your passport requires a visa, the online process is designed to work from home in Colombia:
Book non-refundable flights only after the visa is approved. This is especially important if you are travelling with a mixed-nationality family and each person has a different status.
Applicants who need a visa usually prepare the following. Requirements can vary by nationality, visa type and applicant circumstances.
For Colombian passport holders entering under the visa exemption, there is no visa application, so there is no visa fee for that route. Your trip costs come from flights, accommodation and insurance.
For travelers who need a visa, the final price depends on several factors: visa type, passport nationality, permitted stay, number of entries, processing option and individual circumstances. Our listed prices combine UAE government charges and a service fee, and the live price is shown on the application page for your selected visa. Compare options there before you pay, because we do not recommend quoting a fixed figure from any article that may be out of date.
Processing time depends on visa type and on how quickly UAE immigration reviews the application. The processing time shown on each visa card at the time of application is the guide to use. Currently, our cards show short-stay options in the range of roughly one to five days depending on type, but these are estimates, not guarantees. Approval and timing are decided by UAE immigration.
Time zone note. Colombia is nine hours behind the UAE. A visa application submitted in the Colombian evening may be reviewed during the UAE working morning, so status changes can appear overnight or early the next day. If your travel date is close, use the express Dubai visa option and allow extra margin anyway.
The city you leave from does not change your visa or entry rule. Your passport nationality, not your city, determines whether you need a visa. A Venezuelan passport holder in Barranquilla and a Venezuelan passport holder in Bogotá face the same rule. A Colombian passport holder in any city has the same exemption.
What the city does change is the journey. Here is what current route listings suggest.
Bogotá's El Dorado International Airport (BOG) is the capital's international airport. Route listings show no nonstop flight between Bogotá and Dubai at the time of writing. Emirates has served Bogotá on a daily one-stop service through Miami, and travel sites list connecting itineraries via Europe and other hubs as well. Emirates has said it hopes to operate a nonstop Bogotá–Dubai flight in 2026–2027, depending on aircraft deliveries, but travelers should check the airline's current schedule rather than assume it.
Journeys with one connection are long. Reported scheduled times for the Miami routing run from roughly 18 hours to over 22 hours depending on direction and layover.
Because the Emirates routing passes through the United States, US entry and transit rules for your passport apply on top of UAE rules. Check them before you book, or choose a connection through another hub if the US routing does not suit your passport.
Route listings for Medellín and other Colombian cities typically show itineraries with one or more connections, often via Bogotá, the United States or Europe. Airlines and routes change, so check the carrier before booking. For visa purposes, remember two things. First, every connecting country may have its own transit rules for your passport. Second, a ticket booked through a third country does not change what the UAE requires of you.
We do not make claims about which Colombian city sends the most travelers to Dubai, because we have not verified current data for that. What we can say is that applicants from every Colombian city follow the same process.
After you apply, you can check your Dubai visa status with your application ID and passport details. Our guide on how to check Dubai visa status online walks through the steps.
If your application is delayed, first confirm that you used the correct application ID and that no documents were flagged. If the visa is rejected, read the reason where it is provided, correct the problem and reapply instead of resubmitting the same information. Typical causes include unclear passport scans and mismatched details. Our articles on common reasons for Dubai visa rejection and what to do after your visa is rejected cover next steps. Do not rebook flights until you have an approved visa.
If your passport requires a visa, an online service can make the process easier from Colombia:
If you are unsure whether you need a visa, check your passport nationality against the rules above, or contact the team before paying for anything.
